A LOOK AT THE INDUSTRY’S LATEST MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES

There are new devices being tried and tested currently for snoring and sleep disordered breathing by Dr McNeillis’ team in the NHS. 

Mandibular advancement splints

New designs with greater comfort and compliance monitoring we will be testing the new version at UCLH Snoring and Sleep service if you wish to take part please ask your GP to refer you.

Nastent 

This is a single use nasal  stent to reduce snoring and mild sleep apnoea  The UCLH Snoring and Sleep team are going to conduct a trial of this device in severe sleep apnoea sufferers.

Hypoglossal nerve stimulators

These are surgically implanted pacemaker devices whic are suitable for positional sleep diordered breathing. The Snoring and Sleep team will be looking to trial these devices in teh NHS in the near future. The device is currently under NICE review.
